Brown & Sharpe 599-7029-5 BesTest Dial Test Indicator, 0.001" Resolution

Brown & Sharpe 599-7029-5 BesTest Dial Test Indicator, 0.001

The Brown & Sharpe 599-7029-5 BesTest parallel dial test indicator reads to 0.001”, with one-half revolution in either direction equivalent to 0.015” and a total measurement range of 0.030”. Continuous clockwise pointer rotation provides error-free reading by preventing plus or minus confusion, with full-metal construction for durability. This indicator is anti-magnetic and corrosion resistant, for safety when used around magnetic workpieces and debris. Monoblock body design with pinions mounted in jeweled bearings in an isolated assembly separate from the outer body, for high accuracy. The ball-bearing lever system with measuring insert swivels through to 240 degrees. The satin black dial and a contrasting high-visibility orange hand help make measurements easy to read. The ball contact tip reaches into the workpiece up to 1/2” to make accurate measurements of turned, milled, and ground parts, for tool setting gauges, fixtures, and inspections. The dial face is 1” in diameter, and rotates to allow horizontal and vertical measurements. This indicator meets the internationally used Deutsches Institut fuer Normung (DIN) 2270 standards and Norme Francaise, the French Institute for Standardization, NF E 11-053 standards.
Dial indicators may also be called dial gauges, dial calipers, and probe indicators. These precision measuring tools are used to accurately measure small linear distances and object sizes. The dial magnifies the measurement so that it can more easily be read by the human eye. Frequently used in manufacturing, laboratories, and other industrial or mechanical fields, dial indicators are used anywhere a small measurement must be found and recorded or transferred, such as checking the variation in tolerance of a workpiece. Dial test indicators are very similar to dial indicators, except that the axis of measurement is perpendicular to the axis of the indicator. Standard dial indicators measure the displacement along the axis of the indicator. Dial indicators can be analog, with a mechanical dial, or electronic, with a digital display. Some electronic models transfer the data electronically to a computer for recording and potential manipulation.
Brown & Sharpe was founded in 1833, had a major part in setting industrial standards in the United States, and has given its name to several standards, including a tool spindle taper, a worm threadform, and others. Brown & Sharpe was acquired by Hexagon Metrology in 2001, and has since focused on precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The Brown & Sharpe line of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical measuring systems, benchtop measuring machines, and precision hand tools offer consistent, high-quality design, construction, and performance. Brown & Sharpe has manufacturing facilities in North America, Switzerland, and China.

Home Made Twin Meter RF Power Meter

Home Made Twin Meter RF Power Meter

For through-line measurements. Useful up to 50MHz

Built in 1988 and still in regular use 22 years later.

Don't be fooled by the "milliamp" graduations - for absolute measurements when necessary, the unit is used with an external calibration chart which converts the mA readings into watts. The meter movements required 100uA for FSD.

This unit is a variation of a design published in the well-known book "Solid State Design for the Radio Amateur".

The meters were redundant spare parts for a 1940s era broadcast HF transmitter. They were still unused in their respective cardboard cartons.

I figured I would find a fitting use for them, and this is it.

The diecast box was reclaimed from another project, and the paint job is automotive paint (primer+topcoat) with a coat of protective varnish.

Power Probe III Ultimate 12 to 24 Volt Automotive Electrical Circuit Tester Kit

Power Probe III Kit comes complete with Power Probe III, 20' extension lead, cigarette lighter adapter, battery hook-up clips all in a blow molded case.

The third release in the Power Probe line of diagnostic tools for auto electrical systems, the Power Probe III is the most revolutionary automotive circuit tester to date*. Packed with quick diagnostic power and multiple capabilities, this small, but powerful tool allows automotive technicians to literally speed through regularly scheduled maintenance and the troubleshooting of problems on automotive electrical systems, saving time and money.

How Does it Work?
After connecting the Power Probe III's clips to the vehicle's battery, the automotive technician can determine at a glance, the voltage level and the polarity of a circuit without running for a volt meter or reconnecting hookup clips from one battery pole to the other. The power switch allows you to conduct a positive or negative battery current to the tip for activating and testing the function of electrical components without wasting time with jumper leads. And yes, the Power Probe III is short circuit protected. It tests for bad ground contacts instantly without performing voltage drop tests and locates short circuits without wasting precious fuses. It tests for continuity with the assistance of its auxiliary ground lead. Also, with a flip of the power switch, you will know instantly that your Power Probe III is functioning without running to the battery as you would otherwise have to do with simple test lights. Finally, the unit's 20-foot cable (extendable 40-feet) allows you to test along the entire length of the vehicle without constantly searching for ground hookups. Together, these features make the Power Probe III an absolute must for automotive technicians at all levels who are looking for a fast and accurate solution to electrical systems diagnostics.

Five Modes in One Tool
True to its design to provide auto technicians with a single tool for all their electrical systems diagnostic needs, the Power Probe III is packed with five powerful diagnostic modes. These include: Power Probe Mode, which indicates the average voltage level of the circuit; Negative Peak Mode, which monitors a positive circuit and captures the lowest voltage that it has dropped to; Positive Peak Mode, which monitors the probed circuit and captures the highest detected voltage; Peak to Peak Mode, which measures the difference between the positive and negative peak voltage levels over a 1 second period; and Threshold Level Setting Mode, used to adjust the threshold voltage in Power Probe Mode for peak to peak detection and signal monitoring.
Standard Features:
Built-in Flashlight.
Audio tone test indicator.
Volt meter and short circuit indicator.
Relay and component tester and continuity tester.
